STRICKLAND, Agnes.
Lives of the Queens of England, from the Norman
Conquest. Now first published from official records
and other authentic documents, private as well as public.
STRICKLAND'S QUEENS OF ENGLAND
London: Henry Colburn, 1854.
8 vols., 8vo (7.5"). Full calf. A handsome set with
raised bands, gilt panels and twin red labels.
A splendid eight volume set of Strickland's popular
account of the Queens of England, the classic work on
the female monarch. Fourth edition, which was
embellished by portraits of each queen. Tremendously
successful and impressively broad in scale, the work
was in fact jointly written with Agnes' sister
Elizabeth, who shunned public recognition.
Uniformly bound with our copy of Strickland's Lives of
the Queens of Scotland.
