SAMUEL ROGERS' POEMS

12mo (6½" tall). Full calf. Extraordinary binding with
twin red oval labels and dense geometric gilt tooling
to the spine. The boards have a network of blind
tooling within a gilt roll. Title page and
frontispiece spotted, edges somewhat rubbed.
Illustrated with woodcuts and a fine engraved
frontispiece plate. Rogers was a well known man of
letters in early nineteenth century England and he was
offered, but declined, laureateship in 1850.
Pleasures of Memory and Jacqueline are amongst his
most popular works.
